Kate Beaumont

Mai Mai’s dress was made from delicate ivory guipure lace lined with a pale silver silk. It had a plunging V neckline, was lightly gathered at the bust, and featured delicate lace capped sleeves. The dress clung around her waist and hips and flared out just below the knee to create a curvy silhouette. The back lining scooped out to the waist, leaving the back as sheer lace. A silver ribbon tied at the back waist and a puddle train finished it off beautifully.

During the months we worked on the dress together Mai Mai and I became close, and I was touched that she and Martyn invited my husband James and I along to their wedding reception at Kelham Island Museum. The reception was amazing – loads of quirky industrial vintage details and amazing florals. Add in a cocktail bar, a ceilidh, great buffet food and a mountain of cakes – all making for a fantastic do!

“I couldn't have made a better decision to have the very lovely Kate Beaumont help design and make my dress. She was patient when I wasn't too sure what I wanted right at the beginning, and listened and made suggestions to help me achieve my dream dress. Kate made the potentially daunting process a real joy, and the outcome of our enjoyable fitting sessions in her studio was just what I had wished for - if not better! I'm already missing the catch ups over tea and the excitement of getting to the finished product. Thank you so so much Kate!” Mai Mai
